The Eurasian Latin Archive project was born for the creation of a digital platform of Latin texts and documents from Medieval and Early ModernTimes concerning East Asia, including a specific "Latin Silk Road" section dedicated to Latin or Latin-Chinese texts. The start up phase (March 2018-February 2020) has been co-financed by Regione Toscana (DAS-MeMo Project) with the collaboration of QuestIT, an IT Company specialized in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

In June 2022, thanks to the SERICA Project, a new version of the Platform has been published.

STEPS

1

2018/19 Census

A first census of texts has been made, also thanks to the research of Michele Ferrero (2011) and some online resources such as Sinica 2.0 and CCT-Database

2

2018/2019: Encoding the documents

Texts are being encoded in XML TEI P5, following the guidelines adopted by ALIM - Archivio della Latininità

3

January 2020: The Platform is published

The platform is based on the Elastic Search search engine and gives many functions which will be implemented in the next phases of the project. The platform is available for testing purposes at this provisional URL. Please notice that this is a prototype and it is optimized for all the browser excepts of Explorer/Edge. ELA is also not optimized for tablets and smartphones.

4

June 2022: A new version of the ELA Platform

A new version of the ELA Platform is now available thanks to the SERICA Project! We have improved the user experience, with the ability to download the linguistic results and to work and compare sub-corpora.
